Custom clutch lines

People using a bellhousing with the clutch slave held on the same side as the exhaust on the 4age or similar engine have found that the original rubber clutch line directly fouls against the exhaust pipes off the headers/extractors. The simplest solution for this is a custom clutch line.

Use:

To install a 4age or other engine with a right hand (engine bay view) exhaust and a right hand clutch slave cylinder the original rubber line for the gearbox will be directly in the path of the extractors/headers. This is the case for all ae86/AE71 owners in Australia who want to do a 4AGE conversion with their original gearbox. The most ideal way short of a different bell-housing is to have a custom clutch line that takes a path under the exhaust pipes and then joins the clutch slave at a 90 degree angle with a Banjo fitting. Not only does this route the line in a nice loop under the piping it also lets the installed to remove the original line support bracket off the body.

Fitment:

The braided line offered here is a line that's a direct replacement for the join between the metal line on the body and the original connection to the clutch slave. So the original rubber line is removed along with the metal support bracket for the hard line on the body, the hard line at the end on the body is gently bent down by hand, the new braided line fitted so it faces down on both ends with a loop and then tightened in place. As shown in the picture below this old and well used line is faced on an angle for the most clearance for the extractors off a 4AGE 20V engine.

Bypass plate The line is run under the piping and then up to the clutch line as shown in the picture. Use copper washers on either side of the banjo fitting to provide the seal. No other sealing agent is needed.
