Side block off plates/side plates bolt on exhaust
side at the back of the head.
Function:
These plates are used
in the place of the original 20V water outlet. Once the original
aluminium water outlet is removed one of these side block off plates is
put in its place, this closes off the original opening as it is no
longer used. It can still be taped for an additional sensor or an
additional small water outlet for a heater/turbo. Unlike some other
competitors offerings these plates are made with a very generous 8mm
thick aluminium. No gasket is supplied however the OEM gasket is
completely compatible.
Build:
There plates use counter-sunk bolts for a flush fitment. Both use the original 20V gasket and
require no modifications to the engine to fit. High tensile silver zinc bolts mae by the Unbreako company are supplied with the sale of
this plate.
Using this plate allows for a very clean and elegant look
for the engine.
Additional
options:
Much like the rear bypass
plates custom options are welcome. There is enough room for an
additional water fitting or a temperature sensor on either one of
these plates shown above. Even though the water channel behind this
plate is directly connected to the rear bypass plate and its associated
sensors/outlets it may still be more ideal to have something directly
on the side plate instead. For example on some engine bays having a
barb on this plate going to the heater core puts the hose in much more
convenient position. Another good application is a barb that supplies
the water cooled core of a turbocharger.
